Ancient Greece Immersion day
Years 5 and 6 have started a new topic this term which is Ancient Greece. For their immersion day, they prepared and ate a Greek banquet.
Year 5 prepared different types of bread the day before the banquet – rosemary, olive, sundried tomato and plain.
6M made a Greek salad. They were given all of the ingredients: lettuce, black olives, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, feta cheese and chives. There was no specific recipe to follow as the children were asked to make the salad to suit their own tastes. Therefore, if they did not like pepper, they used less and added more tomato. They then prepared different fruit such as kiwi and clementines.
6C made different Greek dips with Greek yoghurt, crème fraiche, peppers, cucumber, lemon juice and dill. They also prepared carrots, cucumber and celery to dip!
All of this food, along with pitta bread was served for the whole of Year 5 and 6 to share.
After the banquet, Year 6 went on to design their own Greek menus to tempt customers into their restaurants. These will be typed up on the netbooks then shared on the website.
