Welcome to Reception. Our class teachers are Mrs Howgego, Mrs Philips and Miss Hammond.
This term we will be exploring the question 'Would you rather live in a forest or on a farm?'. Our learning will start with an exciting trip to Shotley Farm and Forest. We will see how a working farm operates and explore a forest. Our learning will culminate with the children taking their parents back to Shotley Farm and Forest to share where they would rather live and why.
In Maths this term, we will be learning to count forwards and backwards, count objects, order numbers and name shapes. Please help your child practise counting, writing and reading numbers to 10 as often as possible. In English this term, we will be immersing ourselves in a range of fiction and non-fiction texts about farms and forests. We will begin to learn sounds so that we can start to read and write words and sentences.
We will have PE every Tuesday (please make sure kit is named).
We have maths basic skills focus on a weekly basis. Please ensure you work on this at home.
Children are expected to read every day. Children will collect gems in their treasure chests every time they read at least three times a week. Keep reading!
