The Smashing Saxons! Monday 17th December 2012
We were extremely lucky to have an authentic Anglo-Saxon visit Year 3 this term! The children were all sat in Miss Channing’s classroom wondering what was about to happen...then suddenly an Anglo-Saxon warrior came through the door along with an array of intriguing weapons. Oluf introduced himself and impressed all the children with demonstrations of gory Anglo-Saxon battle strategies. The children’s faces were a picture with some children with their hands covering their mouths in disbelief and others with a grin as wide as a Cheshire cat enjoying the blood, guts and gore! It really added to their experience of their Invaders topic this term. They didn’t want to say goodbye to Oluf and stayed around after the lesson (even though it was lunch time!) to ask him questions.
We would like to say a massive thank you to our special visitor for coming into our class and engaging the children so wonderfully. We hope to see him again soon!
