Visit to Colcester Castle

On Friday 6th January Year 3 travelled back 2000 years to experience what it was like in Roman times at Colchester Castle. We learnt all about Boudicca, queen of the Iceni tribe, and how she battled against the Romans and their ever growing empire. Our highlights included trying on Roman helmets and togas, learning about the Centurion’s weapons like a vinestick and discovering different Roman artefacts from around the local area. We are very excited about our Roman topic and can’t wait to learn more!

All the children were extremely well behaved and a former teacher from the local area, who was visiting the museum, said that she was impressed with the children’s behaviour and thought they should be tremendously proud of themselves and how they represented the school. In addition to this the staff at the castle complimented the children on their impeccable behaviour (forgetting the children were even there as they were that quiet!) throughout the visit and said they would be welcome back at any time.
