Welcome to Year 1

Our class teachers are:

Year 1 have had a fantastic start to the school year with a fabulous trip to Sealife Centre. We were lucky enough to see many different types of sealife including rescued seals, sea turtles and sharks. We look forward to finding out much more conservation as the term progresses. At the end of term we will be celebrating our fabulous geography learning with an assembly to the whole school about how to be more eco-friendly. In maths this term we will be focusing on multiplication and division, number fractions, time and money.

Please continue to help your child practise number formation and counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s at home. In English we will be covering various text types and developing our skills as writers. We will be learning about the story of The Storm Whale and 10 Things I Can Do To Help My World.

Reading continues to play an important role in our learning and we will continue to broaden the children's experiences of authors and genres. In science this term we will be learning about animals and plants.
