At the Oaks DT is taught so children acquire a board and ambitious range skills and knowledge. Within each unit of work children are given the opportunity to design, make, evaluate and develop their technical knowledge.
There are five key threads of learning which are taught and built upon in a progressive way across the curriculum. These five threads are: cooking, mechanisms, structures, textiles and electrical systems. These chosen threads support children in becoming resourceful, creative and inspired. It also develops their life skills so that they leave The Oaks ready for the next stage in their learning and equipped to be valuable members of society.
At the Oaks we use Kapow’s scheme of work but have adapted and personalised it where needed. https://www.kapowprimary.com/
